"Battery Up" Coming to Ryan

Community firefighters and Red Cross volunteers will soon be visiting residents in Ryan to change smoke detector batteries and identify fire safety hazards in your home. It's all part of "Battery Up", a free program offering in-home fire prevention to elderly, disabled and low-income residents. Ryan's "Battery Up" will be held Saturday, May 3rd from 9 am to noon. Ryan residents who would like to receive the in-home visit must make an appointment. Call the Grant Wood Area Chapter of the Red Cross at 319-393-3500 or the Ryan Fire Department at 932-2608.
