Wamac Volleyball Tournament Gets Underway

The Wamac conference tournament started up with pool play yesterday at two different sites, Center Point -Urbana and Anamosa,
In Center Point, he West Delaware Hawks came up short against Solon dropping their first match of the tourney losing 2-0. The Hawks responded winning two matches in a row
over Center Point-Urbana and Benton, 2 games to none. Western Dubuque suffered two hard fought defeats to Mount Vernon and Marion then beat Vinton Shellsburg 2-1.
In Anamosa, Beckman handled Anamosa and Williamsburg then were shutout by Waterloo Columbus. Anamosa and Independence both lost all 3 of their matches.
The top 8 teams; Solon, Waterloo Columbus, Maquoketa, Mt. Vernon, Beckman, West Delaware, Clear Creek-Amana and Marion move on to the champions side of bracket play to be held in
Mount Vernon on Thursday. The other 8 squads; DeWitt, Western Dubuque, Williamsburg, Center Point-Urbana, Vinton-Shellsburg, Independence, Anamosa and Benton will also play on Thursday in the consolation bracket at Mt. Vernon in the old high school gymnasium.
